The fair city of Kingston upon Hull is organising a 25th commemoration of Philip Larkin's Death with a five month festival.
What stuck me about Larkins wiki was this, I sure he would more than sigh.
Born 9 August 1922
Coventry, Warwickshire, (now in West Midlands), England
Died 2 December 1985 (aged 63)
Hull, Humberside, (now in East Riding of Yorkshire), England
I wonder how the long the "England" bit will survive, the EU does not even recognise it (Daily Mail selected for link in Larkins Honour) on its maps. I guess with Larkins words and that off many others England cannot be drawn out of our hearts and heads, and neither that of Yorkshire, long after the office dwellers have had their way.
